Johns needs to get his act together already
The arc in Justice League is interesting but it isn’t without its flaws.
After a couple of issues worth of breaks from Jim Lee’s art and an issue where we get Green Arrow—who has been turned into an annoying little shit in the reboot—trying like hell to join the team and getting turned down since he’s A) irritating and B) it’s revealed that the team already had a bad experience when they tried to recruit a certain Martian, a story that would have been way more interesting than what was shown in those filler issues between the first arc and the current one, we get the story of an ordinary guy who blames the Justice League for the deaths of his family and journeys to visit some old ancient deities for powers. The powers enable him to drain the lifeforce of other people by making them relive moments of extreme loss and pain. It’s interesting but what I really couldn’t help but focus on is the fact that for a bunch of people who supposedly have been working together for five years these seven heroes are still acting the same way they all did when they first got together in the very first arc of the series.

So, um, Superman always stands around floating several inches above the ground now? And I know Hal is a toole but I’ve never imagined him to be such a huge toole that he would hit on his friend’s date right in front of him. Gee Johns, you went through a lot of effort several years back to redeem Hal Jordan after the whole Parallex thing, get people liking him again, but now it seems like you’re trying to get us to go back to hating him. Make up your mind already.

That’s a very good question Aquaman is asking. How in the world did this team manage to survive for five years when it seems like they don’t know anything about each other and seem to be bickering nonstop? Whatever happened to “no secrets” or did DC decide to toss that out the window with the reboot too? After five years I would hope that they would know just a bit about each other and be more of a cohesive unit that can work well together.
And once again Cyborg is doing the whole intelligence thing. With him around doing all the things Batman used to do, filling the roles Bats used to fill, there doesn’t even seem to be a need for Batman to be on the team anymore.
Superman floating above the ground like that doesn’t work. It worked for Black Adam since he always felt that he was a god and was above walking on the same ground that “ordinary” people walked on. It doesn’t work for Supes.
I’m really hoping things get better. The main story is interesting but the characters…there just doesn’t seem to be any development or progress there at all.
